CARNIVAL CELEBRATED IT'S 200th SHOW AT THE MOVIES
On April 23rd, 2012 Carnival Choreographers Ball, the most popular dance industry showcase in LA, celebrated its 200th in Hollywood, CA. The monthly portal of entertainment was born in 1998 at The Key. And had a face-lift in 2010, when moved to Club Avalon. Hundreds of dancers/ choreographers received their career breaks at Carnival. These names included Chonique Sneed & Lisette Bustamante (Britney Spears/ ABDC Choreography Supervisors), Robert Hoffman (Step Up 2/ 90210) and more. Lives have not only been changed, but also enhanced. And its credibility is expanding to New York, Tokyo and more.
As dancers in LA, we take for granted the comfort of performing with our peers, the freedom of manifesting our vision, or the power of networking with higher ups every month. From Hollywood to Broadway, there have been millions through out the years to aspire too. Gene Kelly, Alvin Ailey, Brian Friedman, and even Travis Wall. Though none of these visionaries would have reached their plateau, without great representation. That is what opens the door completely to the professional dance world. What you do with that destined key is 100% up to you. It’s then, that you learn the difference between being a competitor and/or participant. So once you’re in the thick of having a dance agent, questions will arise. What will it take for them to sign me behind the table at the audition? How do I not get lost in the shuffle?
